Let’s Make Fascinators
The girls at P.A.C.E have once again shown us all just how creative they truly are, by making fascinators which will be sold as a part of their giving back, at The Grande Dames Tea.
The tea originated by PACE Center for Girls of Lee County, honors women who have played major roles in Southwest Florida history through decades of service, philanthropy and helping others. As part of the program, the PACE girls will take the stage and ask life questions of the three Grande Dames. If you haven’t attended it is a beautiful exchange from young women seeking, and the sharing of wisdom from a lifetime of experience, then this is a must.
Tuesday March 22, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Broadway Palm at 1380 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers. Seats for the tea are $60 per person and may be reserved either online at www.pacecenter.org/lee or by phoning 239-470-7648. Table sponsorships are also available.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite tea party hat. If you don’t have a hat, don’t worry. There will be fascinators available for purchase at the tea. Made by the girls at P.A.C.E.
If you really want to get adventurous you can make your own. Start with stiffened felt, a headband, ribbons, feathers netting and a few tools. You can upcycle old scarves, buttons. flowers, or anything fun you can round up from around the house. Remember they should be fascinating, curious, and evoke conversation.
Cut a disc with two small slits. The disc becomes the base for you hat to give it structure to hold all the embellishments you will add. Thread one side of the headband through the slits and tie ribbon and netting to the band. slide the same end of the headband through the second hole. Using a glue gun or fabric glue, add accents to the base.
Come join us and buy a fascinator from on of the talented P.A.C.E designers.
